Chairman Chen Jiancheng and five others invested over 100,000 yuan at the foot of Wolong Mountain in Haoba Village, Shaoxing County, to establish the Shaoxing Duosu Micro Motor Factory.
1985
The factory successfully produced its first product—the JW series motor.
1986
The State Trademark Office approved the registration of the Wolong brand motor trademark.
1999
A joint venture was established with Italy’s Olivetti to create Shaoxing Olivetti-Wolong Vibration Machinery Co., Ltd.
2002
Wolong Technology was listed on the stock market, with the stock code 600580.
The comprehensive upgrade projects for Wolong industrial motors, electric vehicles, and micro-special motors were officially launched.
The company successfully acquired Zhejiang Storage Battery Group Co., Ltd., forming Zhejiang Wolong Lighthouse Power Co., Ltd.
It also successfully acquired and merged with Wuhan Motor.
2004
A joint venture with Japan’s Panasonic was formed to establish Zhejiang Wolong Household Motor Co., Ltd.
The first phase of the ERP project was initiated.
The Wolong electromechanical engineering project, covering an area of 780 acres, was officially launched.
2005
“Zhejiang Wolong Technology Co., Ltd.” was officially renamed “Wolong Electric Group Co., Ltd.”
The company acquired and merged with Yinchuan Transformer Factory, establishing Yinchuan Wolong Transformer Co., Ltd.
2009
In April, Wolong Electric acquired and took control of Beijing Huatai Transformer Co., Ltd., which was reorganized to form Beijing Wolong Huatai Transformer Co., Ltd. This expansion allowed Wolong's power transmission and transformation products to grow from just railway traction transformers and power transformers to include urban rail transit transformers and complete power rectification equipment.
2011
The holding group successfully acquired 97.94% of Austria's ATB Group, one of Europe’s three major motor manufacturers, becoming the actual controller of ATB Group. This acquisition positioned Wolong as a globally renowned motor manufacturer with leading comprehensive strength. Chairman Chen Jiancheng met with President Hu Jintao and the Austrian President at the signing ceremony with ATB Group. The holding group also held its first integration and development strategy seminar following the acquisition of ATB Group.
Additionally, the company successfully acquired Yantai Dongyuan Transformer.
2013
Wolong Electric acquired Midea’s Jiangsu Qingjiang Motor Manufacturing Co., Ltd., which was restructured as Wolong Electric Huai'an Qingjiang Motor Co., Ltd.
The Wolong Japan Research Institute was established in Osaka, Japan.
2014
Wolong Electric acquired the Italian company SIR Robotics Applications.
The company also acquired Zhangqiao Haier Motor Co., Ltd., which was then restructured as Wolong Electric Zhangqiao Haier Motor Co., Ltd.
2015
Wolong Electric Group successfully acquired and merged with Nanyang Explosion-Proof Group Co., Ltd., which was then restructured as Wolong Electric Nanyang Explosion-Proof Group Co., Ltd.
The group also successfully merged with the Italian company OLI and acquired Hill Robotics and Olivetti Vibration.
2016
Wolong Electric acquired Rongxin Transmission.
2018
The company expanded its portfolio by acquiring the small industrial motor business from General Electric in the United States.

Laurence Scott, a pioneer in the field, has a legacy of providing motors for critical applications like British nuclear power plants and naval vessels. Known for its low-starting-current motors, Laurence Scott has continued to excel, earning the prestigious Queen's Award for three consecutive years post-acquisition.
Additionally, Brook Crompton Motors joined the Wolong Group. With over a century of experience, Brook Crompton is a highly respected name in the electric motor industry, renowned for its technological innovation and design expertise. The company specializes in energy-efficient motors, offering a comprehensive range of low-voltage, medium-voltage, and high-voltage AC motors. Brook Crompton's premium "W" and "10" series, along with its motors designed for hazardous environments, are widely recognized for their reliability and performance. To further enhance operational efficiency, Brook Crompton also provides user-friendly adjustable speed drive packages.
Schorch Electric Motor, founded in 1882, joined the Wolong Group in 2011. Renowned for its high-quality motors(High-Quality 3 Phase Electric Motor), Schorch provides a wide range of drive systems to customers worldwide. The company collaborates with key partners to deliver solutions for diverse industries, including oil and gas industry(oil and gas motor), chemicals, power generation, water treatment, shipbuilding, steel and metal processing, and testing facilities.
OLI is a global leader in vibration technology, renowned for its MVE vibration motors and EX vibration sensors. Since 1999, Wolong Electric Drive Group has partnered with OLI to bring these advanced technologies to the Chinese market.
In 2015, Nanyang Explosion-Proof Group Co., Ltd. (CNE), a leading Chinese manufacturer of explosion-proof motors, joined the Wolong Group. CNE's state-of-the-art research and production facilities enable the development and production of a wide range of explosion-proof electric motors, including low-voltage asynchronous motors and high-voltage motors. These motors are critical components in industries such as oil, gas, chemicals, metallurgy, power generation, military, and nuclear power.
In 2018, General Electric (GE) became a member of the Wolong group. As the longest-standing manufacturer of commercial and industrial electrical equipment, GE caters to a wide range of heavy industries, including oil and gas industry, petroleum and chemicals, power generation, mining and metal processing, paper, water treatment, cement, and materials processing. With extensive experience in electric motor manufacturing, GE provides significant support to Wolong.
