Recently, the "Baotou Rare Earth High-tech Zone - Wolong Shanghai (High-end Intelligent Equipment) Science and Technology Innovation Outpost" jointly established by Baotou Rare Earth High-tech Zone and Wolong Electric (Shanghai) Central Research Institute Co., Ltd. was inaugurated, along with the ceremony for appointing scientific and technological talents. The ceremony was held at the Wolong Shanghai headquarters. Vice President Zheng Yanwen of Wolong Electric Drive Group and Party Secretary and Director of the Management Committee of Baotou Rare Earth High-tech Zone, Xu Xing, jointly officiated the inauguration.
Xu Xing stated that Baotou Rare Earth High-tech Zone has taken the construction of "two rare earth bases" as its top priority, and has established significant advantages in the fields of rare earth permanent magnetic materials and their applications. This cooperation with Wolong Group is an exploration to break geographical restrictions and link innovative elements. It is hoped that the satellite base can receive top-level scientific and technological resources from the Yangtze River Delta, undertake the dual empowerment mission of "Shanghai wisdom" and "Baotou transformation", focus on the research and development of high-performance rare earth permanent magnetic materials in fields such as electric vehicle drive motors, and build a "research - pilot - industrialization" full-chain system, and create a demonstration zone for technology transfer.
Zheng Yanwen pointed out that the science and technology innovation outpost is an important part of Wolong's global R&D layout, and it is also a strategic bridgehead for connecting with the innovative resources in the Yangtze River Delta and serving the industrial upgrading in the north. Wolong will implement the agreement, ensure the investment in venues, funds and talents, support the outpost in conducting research and development in the fields of high-end applications of rare earths, artificial intelligence and low-altitude economy, promote the transformation of the research results in Baotou, and achieve a win-win situation for the enterprise and the local area.
As the first science and technology innovation outpost established by an enterprise in Baotou Rare Earth High-tech Zone, the establishment of this platform marks the entry of cross-regional collaborative innovation between Shanghai and Baotou into a new stage of practical and institutional operation. It is also an important practice for implementing the "Technology Breakthrough" project, promoting the deep integration of scientific and technological innovation and industrial innovation, and constructing the "Research and Development in Shanghai, Transformation in Baotou" innovation model.
The ceremony also simultaneously appointed four top experts from the fields of electrical control and artificial intelligence, namely Yan Weicang, Zhang Xiaoming, Zhou Ronghui, and Alexander-Dieter-Kleiner, from Wolong, as the first batch of scientific and technological talents. They will provide technical and talent support for the project.
